Qualities-9/21/15

There are a handful of qualities, character traits if you will, that I look for and am drawn to in people.
Firstly is respect. Respecting those around them and following the golden rule of treating others the way they want to be treated is key. Respecting oneself is a part of it as well. Another thing I love is thoughtfulness. Whether it's truly listening to what others have to say, or randomly saying "I appreciate you" to important people in their life, thoughtfulness is a must. Kindness goes hand in hand with that. Kindness goes a long way. Whether it's random or very thought out, putting kindness into the world is a beautiful thing, and almost seems rare in today's world. Another quality I admire is responsibility. Being a mature individual is a great quality in my eyes, as is accountability for one's actions. Also, I look for a good work ethic. Sadly, it is something that is not very prevalent with my generation. But, someone willing to work hard and achieve success through integrity is very respectable in my eyes. Honesty is one of the most important traits a person can possess. Trust is one of the easiest things in the world to break if not treated the way it should, and is also one of the hardest things in the world to restore and repair. What takes only an instant of making a bad decision or uttering a lie takes sometimes years to repair. Another trait I admire is being genuine. Though I may not agree with the decisions someone makes or how they go about speaking or acting, I would prefer to clash with them than go on thinking they are someone completely different than the actually are due to a facade. That simply leads to disappointment, confusion, and broken trust.
