Should Not's of Life-9/22/15

Life is full of choices. There is always a choice, options, and a decision to be made. There are many things that can, and should, be done in life. However, my focus is the opposite end of the spectrum. There are many things I think should never be done, many no-no’s and should not’s of life.
People should not lie, steal, or cheat. Liar and thief can sometimes be interchangeable, and both are wrong. Cheating, whether at work or school, or on someone in your life is never okay. Have enough confidence and self-respect to do your own work and use your own knowledge. As for the other, being unfaithful is one of the easiest and quickest ways to hurt those who love you and break trust for good. It will cost you your reputation and maybe even your significant other.
People should not let others define them. Everyone has role models and influences in their life. However, individuality is what binds each of us to our sanity. When one tries to live in expectations or cookie cutter standards, it leads to disappointment and a loss of who they are. Be yourself, everyone else is already claimed!
People should not leave words unspoken. Tell them, whether this means giving your honest opinion on something, voicing your concern, or professing your undying love to that special someone. Life is so very short, and those words could be lighting the fuse of change, success, or true happiness. They could always result in a train wreck, but I promise the disappointment is better than holding it in your whole life and wondering “what if”.
There are countless should not’s when it comes to us as humans. Some of it is common sense, and some is slowly learned as the wisdom trickles into our veins like an I.V. as we age. I will close with a final should not. People should not go through life without many moments of pure bliss. Life is excruciatingly hard, but as Martin Luther King Jr. once said so eloquently “only in the darkness can you see the stars.” I hope everyone can see the stars tonight.
